The Heathlands
By far the largest area in the Nature Reserve, the Heathlands are a huge open area of moorland to the south of the park. The hills are low and rolling, carpeted in lush green grass and heather, and an animal can run for miles without a care in the world.

Halcyon Woods
Halcyon Woods stretches all the way from the rolling Heathlands to the slopes of the Diamond Peaks, and boast a vast suathe of flora, from oak and ash trees in the valleys to hardy pines climbing the mountain slopes to the snowline. This area is regarded as the central hub of the Reserve, and contains the Admin Coppice, where the Area Administrator sits.

The Diamond Peaks
The large chain of mountains in the north of the Reserve are collectively referred to as the Diamond Peaks, due to their upper slopes very often being dusted with snow. Their slopes are steep and rocky, with many cliffs and crevasses scarring their forms, most notably the perilous precepice of Falcon's Ridge, where winds can be unpredictable and reach incredible speeds, and the mighty finger of Cloudscrag, the tallest peak in the range.

Clearwater Tarn
Fed by three large streams that tumble down the mountains to the head of the lake, Clearwater Tarn is a large body of water that makes up a considerable portion of the Reserve's western boundary. It's banks are made up of soft sand and smooth shingle, and the unusually clear waters that give the place it's name allow watchers to see clearly to it's deep bed many feet below.

Heathdale Village
The village to the south of the Reserve is a quaint little cottage-hamlet with a number of homes, a church, a few shops and a community center. Even though it is only small, however, most of the Reserve inhabitants steer well clear of it's borders, fearing greatly the hand of man, and even those who do brave it's paved streets and neatly ordered buildings do so with great trepidation and caution.

Halcyon Dam
The Clearwater Tarn used to be much smaller before the Halcyon Dam was built. Standing proud at the bottom of the lake, it marks the southwestern boundary of the Reserve, a massive concrete construction reaching right the way across the small valley that the river runs into. During the day it is swarming with workers, and even at night it's unnatural, imposing construction stands as a blight on the picturesque landscape. It is even rumoured a colony of vicious Rats has taken up residence in it's dark interior...

Heathdale Quarry
The old slate quarry in the eastern slopes of the Diamond Peaks has been abanndoned for some time, but it's remnants remain in the deep pit it dug itself into, the huge piles of loose dull grey rock stretching all the way up the valley, intersperced with the occasional derelict building or broken vehichle. Nothing will grow for a very long time on this wasteland of bare rock, and for many animals in the forest the quarry has come to represent the very epitome of desolation and despair, the legacy of man.

The Construction Site
The strange flurry of activity approaching the Reserve from the north east was noticed a few months ago, and ever since the disturbance has been pressing steadily closer and closer. What it is the Humans are working on nobody can be sure, but it seems they are intent on ploughing straight through the Reserve in their work, even if it has slowed considerably over the past few weeks. And even during the night when their massive metal machines are silent, the construction site is still a labrynth of extreme danger for the unwary creature, with deep holes, sharp spikes and unsecure objects ready to fall on them at all times.

Brackenmoor Forest
Over to the east of the Reserve is the forest of Brackenmoor, a small area of woodland that was deemed too tiny and unimportant to be included with the larger Reserve. Possibly inspired by this distinction, the animals of Brackenmoor have always carried a very deep and violent grudge against the inhabitants of Halcyon Heath, and have occasionally mounted raids on the Reserve to try and capture or kill some of it's community. Certainly any Reserve animal entering these woods would be met with a very hostile reception, either being put on trial for trespassing, chased off, or even killed in cold blood simply for showing their face.

Clearwater Fjords
Beyond Clearwater Tarn and the Halcyon Dam, the river breaks up into a broad area of marshland and fjords as it winds it's way west to the sea. This huge area of partially saltwater flats and peat bogs have a whole ecosystem of their own, and many wading birds and sea life can be found in the area. Humans also coarse the waterways in barges or sit on the marshy banks fishing in the water, and the occasional hulk of an old rusting boat is not an unfamilliar sight perched atop one of the muddy hillocks.

Heathdale Farm
Heathdale Farm is located to the south of it's namesake village, and the land it covers is clearly seen by the wide fields of crops or livestock surrounding the small farmhouse and barn in the center of the moor. The goods the farm produces make excellent meals for the wary and adventurous animal, but the farmer and his hunting dogs are always on the lookout for anyone stealing his livelihood, so getting food this way can be a dangerous buisness indeed.
